Gaming at Icarus Tours is unlike most other conventions. We have open gaming, scheduled events, and week long events, but it is our atmosphere and staff support that sets us apart. We take great pride in our gaming experience and our previous guests say it's what keeps them coming back. We always have staff on hand to organize a group, help teach new games and sit in if more players are desired. Our smaller numbers and available staff create a much more intimate experience. By the end of our events, the guests feel like they're playing with old friends versus a pick up group at a convention. All of our events, are included in the price of the vacation, there is no additional charge for gaming.
The staff keeps track of a number of events through out the week giving prizes to winners and random participants. Prizes include t-shirts, games and other unique items. |

Board Games
Icarus Tours has a large selection of both classic and new games for all the guests to enjoy at any time. Various games are run by the staff throughout the day, allowing the guests to learn and join into games they may not be familiar with. Our frequently updated game library is at the bottom of this page. Our staff is very familiar with our collection, can teach most of our titles, and we are always happy to provide recommendations. We provide a list of our games and which staff member can teach which games. Each year we have a table with all the new hot games from that year. |
Evening Gaming
Our gaming room is open all day, starting at 10 am most days, but the majority of our guests come after dinner to wind down after their day. We organize many games to start at 6:00pm providing a more organized start to the evenings events. The sign-up for these games will be out the evening before and titles will be selected based on staff recommendations and guest requests. This is a new practice that started in 2016 and has worked really well. |
Gaming with Special Guests
Our special Guests, including Mike Fitzgerald, afford guests a unique experience at our con. Unlike most conventions where the special guests are only seen at a few panels and the closing ceremony, ours are around playing and teaching games daily. No other convention gives you such personal access to cornerstones of the industry. |
Wargame Wednesday
It can be very hard to get some of the heavier wargame/4x titles to the table. People rarely have the time to sink into them, or they can't fill enough seats to make it worth it. Time and players is something we have in abundance at our events. On Wednesday we organize events for the longer wargame titles, like Twilight Imperium, Eclipse, Game of Thrones, and Ikusa. The staff will be on hand to teach the games, including intro games the night before if people need help with the rules, want a refresher, or don't want to play cold. We started this in 2016 and it was very popular. |
Trekking the National Parks
What game could be a better fit, than a fun, social game about traveling to the National Parks! We are proud to support and play Bink Ink's first production at all our events. The Bink Ink crew was on hand at Teton Con 2015 to demo the game, chat about the parks and generally enjoy themselves. The game was very well received. We were very excited to get this US MADE game back from their Kickstarter and start playing. Read more about Bink Ink on our partners page or their website for the game. |
Role Playing Games
Although board games tend to dominate Icarus Tours events, we have had great luck expanding our role playing options with our speed dungeons. Speed dungeons offer a fast, fun way for new and experienced players to try out a hack and slash version of roleplaying with a small group. The event is timed to ensure the action is fast and furious. We have a full line of Dwarven Forge Game Tiles for a great experience. In addition to speed dungeons we offer a wide variety of "lite" roleplaying games like Dungeon World and Fiasco. In 2017 we ran Fiasco, Dungeons & Dragons, and Dungeon World. |
The RPG podcast Gagmen were special guests at Teton Con 2015 and recorded an episode about their game Dungeon World that they played with our RPG Director Michael Thomas. You can find it here. Their thoughts on our events are at 41:45 and their discussion on Dungeon World follows.
PitchCar
PitchCar offers a unique twist to racing games. Players flick their cars (discs) around the track, trying not to fly off while staying ahead of the competition. Play is fast, fun, and addicting. We have plenty of track for you to build your own circuits or you can have the staff set something up for you. Social Games We have a large selection of social games that we usually break out at the Happy Hour and Dinner Out's. What better way for guests to meet each other than to be introduced with accusations of being a spy or a werewolf?! Werewolf and Resistance are classics of the genre, while up and coming titles like Two Rooms and a Boom or Good Cop Bad Cop will also be available. |
